Also, be sure to visit Ingatestone Saddlery Centre to stock up on riding and pet supplies; people travel from far and wide for their superb customer service and range of products. This family run business, one of the largest equestrian and country stores in Europe, also has an excellent cafe which you’re bound to visit again and again.
Still owned and occupied by the Petre family, Ingatestone Hall, a Grade I listed 16th-century manor house, is a ‘must visit’ if you’re in the area. This impressive Tudor building retains much of its original appearance and captivates the imagination as you explore. While discovering the house and grounds, why not refuel with a tea or light lunch in the Summer Parlour?
There are also numerous events here throughout the year including seasonal workshops, outdoor theatre, indoor performances, reenactments and much more.
Please note that privately-owned Ingatestone Hall is not open to the public year-round and you should check opening times before visiting.
St Edmund and St Mary's Church is the local parish church and a lovely place to see in Ingatestone. Found on the High Street, this 11th century building was modified in the 17th century and is an impressive building to behold. Sunday services are at 9.45am but the church is open to visitors throughout the week.
