The best places to live in Gidea Park

Gidea Park is a superb place to live if you’re looking for a residential area in easy reach of London. This covetable suburb is chosen by families and commuters alike for its community feel, good schools and transport links.

If you’re planning a move to the area and are deciding where to live in Gidea Park, we’re here to help. As local estate agents who’ve been helping people move here since 1987, we are proud to say we know the area extremely well. To help you narrow down your property hunt, we’ve put together a list of the best places to live in Gidea Park.

Is Gidea Park a nice place to live?

Gidea Park makes a great choice for lots of reasons. Predominantly residential, the area is relatively quiet while still offering a great choice of shops, sports facilities and restaurants. You’re in easy reach of the shopping centres and market in Romford, while local supermarkets are a stone’s throw away for your daily essentials.

There are good local schools for all ages, and particularly appealing, especially for commuters, is the convenience of Gidea Park Train Station on the Elizabeth Line. From here, regular trains to Liverpool Street take as little as 27 minutes.

The best places to live in Gidea Park

We wouldn’t want to put you off anywhere in Gidea Park as there are no bad choices. However, different areas offer something slightly different, and it’s good to keep your priorities in mind. To help you begin your property hunting journey, we’ve handpicked a few of our favourite streets and areas to consider when choosing where to live in Gidea Park.

Castellan Avenue

Castellan Avenue is a great place to start our list with its distinctly suburban ambience and large family homes. The properties on the south side of the street not only benefit from south-facing gardens but they also back onto beautiful green sports fields associated with The Royal Liberty School.

Crossways, and Wallenger Avenue

If you continue east along Castellan Avenue the road turns south into Wallenger Avenue. This road, and Crossways one street away, have a very similar character with lovely family homes, and a quiet, suburban atmosphere. Gidea Park Train Station is at the south end of Crossways making properties here ideal for commuters, too.

Exhibition Estate

Properties between Romford Golf Course and Raphael Park are highly coveted and this is a great place to keep on your house-hunting list. Detached homes, larger gardens and the appeal of those green open spaces keeps this area high on the list of best places to live in Gidea Park.

Links Avenue

This residential road sweeps round the edge of Romford Golf Course, securing residents a stunning backdrop of manicured green grass. Homes on the opposite side of the street benefit from the same quiet, residential atmosphere while some also back onto Gidea Park Sports Ground.

Pemberton Avenue

Heading back where we started this list, Pemberton Avenue leads off Castellan Avenue and is a great place to look for a family home in easy reach of the train station.

Squirrels Heath Avenue

Last on our list of where to live in Gidea Park is charmingly named Squirrels Heath Avenue: another great choice for its residential community. Again, you’re in easy reach of the train station and have a choice of characterful family homes along a quiet road.
