A Week to Go Until Brentwood’s Pop-Up Market!

By The Beresfords Marketing Team - 27 August 2021

New Pop-Up Marketplace – live music, sustainable clothing and chilli jam - in Brentwood” on September 4 from 11-6pm.

A brand new Pop Up Market arrives in Brentwood on Saturday 4th September which will see new micro businesses and entrepreneurs bringing wide ranging new ideas and concepts, goods and services to the borough.

Open from 11-6pm it is being run by Tillie Peel, founder of The Pop Up Club, who said; “We want to provide artists, makers, designers and small businesses, that have sustainability at their core affordable pop up spaces in high footfall locations. Community is everything; we invest back into our traders with free learning resources, advice, tips and meet ups throughout the year.”

Finula Crowe founded sustainable clothing and homewares brand, New Day Originals (www.newdayoriginals.co.uk) during lockdown. Finula says; “The Pop Up Marketplace is exactly the right concept for our ethically made products. I have a strong connection with Brentwood having had a boutique here for several years but this is a new brand with a purpose! New Day Originals’ mission is to provide people with a stylish and unique alternative to single-wear, low-quality fast fashion which is contributing to the growing problem of landfill, harming people and destroying the environment. It's a new concept so we need to reach new audiences with our product and our message too. For many businesses trying something new or exploring wider options is restricted by the amount of investment needed but with a pop up market we can instantly reach those people who love this sort of product but might not even know we are doing this. We also champion local artists and creators and have worked with them to create our unique designs which is just so fulfilling for us. Brentwood has a great appetite for entrepreneurs, innovative ideas and supporting independent and small businesses; combined with entertainment and some café culture it’s a win win.”

Music will be hosted by live music venue Hot Box and local record shop Hey Joes with a line up that includes Eden Nash, Longy, Armoured Man, DJ Darryl Butcher AKA Simple Pleasures and more. Among the many exhibitors will be Just Joules, Essex Soap Box, Discover Hope Art and Aspland Designs. Together with Kimbers Chilli Jam, another Brentwood based entrepreneurial business run by Kimberley Craigmile,  “My business kimbers_chilli_jam is only around a year old. I was asked by another local business for my chilli jam to be included in their Christmas Hamper and it went from there! The market will offer me great exposure to my local town and opportunity to meet my customers face to face and connect with other businesses.  I am so excited to be a part of it.”

Brentwood Borough Council has provided funding for the market through the Welcome Back Fund and Chair of Community & Health Committee, Cllr Cliff Poppy says; “Everyone loves a market and this is a new approach that combines all the trendy chic of the London markets like Spitalfields and Hoxton right here in Brentwood. Crown Street has set the tone for this with its eclectic mix of ever popular products and services much beloved by our residents and the Pop Up Market will broaden the flavour. It is the brainchild of the Brentwood Business Partnership and in particular Nicki Treffers at Beresfords whose enthusiasm for the idea has been vital in getting it off the ground. Tillie Peel and her staff have worked incredibly hard to get the venue up and running and I trust that residents will support this particularly as the timing means there is music and entertainment throughout the afternoon and into the early evening.”

Beresford’s Nicki Treffers said; “Beresfords has been established since 1968 and is a known and trusted property group in Brentwood and beyond, but few realise that we do much more than sell property! We have a vested interest in supporting the community in which we work and helping it explore new possibilities to encourage and broaden what is on offer to residents. I am part of the Brentwood Business Partnership and always loved the idea of a really trendy new type of market. An event that people would want to come to, browse among the stalls, take in the atmosphere, sample what is on offer, relax while enjoying some live music and just enjoy themselves. It is this sort of event that brings residents together and encourages people to see a place as more of a destination. I am delighted that it is now full steam ahead and myself and the team are really looking forward to the day.
