Gidea Park is a lovely, residential area in easy reach of London and popular with families. If you’re considering a move here, it helps to get an idea of what’s available to support your interests. Whether you’re a foodie, fitness-fanatic or just want something to keep the kids occupied, there are plenty of things to do in Gidea Park for everyone.

For a predominantly residential area, there is a great selection of places to eat and drink in Gidea Park. We must give a special mention to Archer's pub on Main Road, where you’re sure of a delicious pub meal and welcoming atmosphere. When you fancy something different, there are several other pubs and Indian, Turkish, Mediterranean, Italian, sushi and pizza restaurants to choose from, too.

The jewel in the crown of Gidea Park must surely be 44-acre Raphael Park. This stunning area is home to beautiful Blacks Lake, ornamental gardens, woodland, a bandstand, play areas and sports facilities, making it the perfect place to enjoy alone or with friends and family. A popular Park Run is held here weekly, alongside other events throughout the year. 

A private members club, this Championship course and clubhouse is a true asset to the area. Visitors are welcome to book a tee, and we’re sure anyone who moves to the area with an interest in the sport will be keen to see what makes this historic course so special. 

While you wouldn’t consider Gidea Park a specific shopping destination, nearby Romford has plenty to offer, including shopping centres, independent stores and a thriving market open three days a week. For serious shopping trips, London itself is also a short train ride away.

There are plenty of local opportunities to get involved with sport and tennis is particularly well catered for. Contact Gidea Park Lawn Tennis Club, get involved at the local David Lloyd leisure centre, or hire a court at Raphael Park or Lodge Farm Park. If tennis isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other sports clubs nearby to help you keep fit and social.
