New Kids on the Block Director Terry Holmes reports on the rising popularity of new homes

Sales of new homes across our Essex offices are up 40% when compared to 2011, so while I have been extolling the virtues of new homes for the last 15 years, it would seem I've been preaching to the converted!

It is to be expected that buyers are favoring chain-free properties with great incentives. However, the attractive design and excellent quality of the new homes across the county are seducing many would-be second hand buyers, and I can see why.

Take these two impressive eight bedroom family houses in Emerson Park, on the market for £2,495,000, where no expense has been spared on the luxurious fixtures and fittings. Some of the highlights include a grand entrance hall with oak staircase and dual oak galleried landings, dual orangery lantern roof in the kitchen/diner and a lovely 110 foot garden!

For those looking for something with a bit more of a modern edge, and a less hefty price tag, then Ashtree Place, in Chelmsford, is bound to appeal. The clean, crisp lines and spacious interiors are attracting young professionals and families alike. Properties here range from £199,950 for a two bedroom apartment and £289,950 for a three bedroom house.

If you prefer something with a little more character, Darcy Mews, in Billericay, is just the ticket. The picture-postcard mews courtyard contains a collection of two bedroom cottages and houses, each with their own distinct design and identity. Prices start from £279,000 for a two bedroom cottage.
