What's more:
Mortgage approvals by the major banks increased to a 15 month high in June, according to the British Bankers' Association. The figure reflected the banks' increased ability to lend and was 65% up on the same month a year earlier.

Average house prices rose month-on-month for the first time in June since January 2008, according to the Land Registry. The survey is considered to be the most authoritative property price survey because it measures the change in prices by recording completed sales rather than mortgage data.
