Egg-cellent cause: Beresfords supports Billericay Food Bank

At Beresfords, giving back to our local community is at the heart of what we do. That’s why our Sales & Lettings team at our Billericay branch is proud to announce our support of the Billericay Food Bank, a vital local charity doing extraordinary work to prevent food poverty, reduce food waste, and offer a helping hand to those in need.

From this month, we are sponsoring the monthly supply of eggs to the food bank. An essential item that’s often in short supply. Our commitment donates a months supply of eggs across a whole year, helping ensure that fresh eggs are included in food parcels delivered to over 100 households each week.

Eggs are more than just a breakfast staple. They’re versatile, packed with protein, and offer a sense of comfort and normality for many families. However, due to their short shelf life and rising costs, they’re not always available to those who need them most. Our goal is to help crack that challenge wide open.

Established in 2018, Billericay Food Bank has grown into a cornerstone of community support in the area. With a passionate team of around 100 volunteers, the charity works tirelessly to pick and pack food parcels, deliver essentials directly to homes and coordinate food collection from local supermarkets.

The team supports individuals of all ages, from families with young children to elderly people living alone, ensuring no one is left behind in times of hardship.

While donations often focus on tinned foods (which are still very much appreciated), there are some less obvious essentials that are in high demand, including:

- Tinned vegetables and long-life produce: A reliable source of nutrition that’s easy to store and cook
- Sanitary products: Period poverty is real, and feminine hygiene products are vital
- Nappies and baby wipes: For families with young children, these make a world of difference

If you’re thinking of donating, consider popping a few of these into your basket next time you shop and donating within your local supermarket, or at your local food bank. Even small contributions can have a big impact.
 

With the cost of living continuing to rise, more and more people are relying on food banks to make ends meet. The Billericay Food Bank has seen a steady increase in demand, and without ongoing local support, it simply couldn’t keep up.

That’s why we’ve chosen to support this fantastic cause because community care starts with practical help, and we’re proud to play our part in building a stronger, more compassionate Billericay.
