Walking around this farm is a breath of fresh air, inviting you to step out of your front door and off into the countryside.
Next to Butterfly Meadow, Courage’s Playing Fields is perfect for families and dog owners alike. Let the children burn off some energy on the play equipment while you enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
This nature reserve is a great place to visit and a nature spot, with grassland, woodland and ponds attracting plenty of insects, birds and other wildlife.
Head to Shenfield Common to relax, have a picnic and enjoy the surroundings. There’s grassland and ancient woodland, with a mill pond as a lovely focal point.
If you’re interested in horse riding, there are plenty of nearby stables, liveries and opportunities to go for a ride.

Hutton Hall, east of Shenfield, is a stunning wedding and events venue opposite the church. This beautiful location and grounds is ideal for capturing romantic photos and celebrating unforgettable moments.

Shenfield Library reopened in February 2025 following significant works. It has become a superb community hub offering a range of services alongside weekly groups and activities.
Complementing the community ambience of Shenfield, there are several great pubs to choose from. We particularly recommend The Green Dragon and The Rose and Crown which have a country feel.
There are a few great places to eat and drink in Shenfield, with even more choice in nearby Brentwood. We like Lot Bar & Restaurant and Hamburger by Hepburns for meals out with family and friends. For a great cup of coffee, Four Eighty will be happy to help you with your caffeine fix.
There are a number of useful independent and chain shops in and near Shenfield, providing everything you need for your daily needs and weekly shops.

St Mary’s Church in Shenfield is a truly special place, in a quiet corner next to the Butterfly Meadow. Records dating back to 1249 tell us just how long people have been worshipping here, and the stunning building simply radiates history. Visit for weekly services, special celebrations and various groups for adults and children.
