Charity Food Fayre – Barleyland’s Farm, Billericay – Sunday 26th May

Barleyland’s Farm in Billericay are hosting a Charity Food Fayre with a large selection of different foods available, including; succulent American style burgers, Instagram worth waffles and mouth-watering Mexican. All money that is raised throughout the day will be donated to St Luke’s Hospice Charity. It is free entry and free parking all day. The Weald Park Country Show & The Weald Festival of Dogs – Weald Country Park, Weald Road, South Weald, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 5QS – Sunday 5th May – Monday 6th May – 10am until 5pm

Weald Country Park are once again hosting their Country Show. This is the perfect day out with the family as there is something for everybody. The day will include; a circus, husky racing, a dog show, cookery demonstrations with a number of professional chefs including Great British Bake Off Winner Sophie Faldo, wrestling, talks from a number of different people and multiple animal interaction opportunities. Billericay Soapbox Derby – Sun Corner, Billericay, Essex – Monday 6th May

After the success of the previous three years the Rotary Club of Billericay are hosting another Soapbox Derby. After last year’s event being a feature in BBC News, they are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year. With a large number of teams partaking to compete for multiple different awards it is something not to miss. The event is visited by people from all over Essex, and has an underlying theme of community spirit throughout the day. Tickets can be bought for £5 on the door or pre-purchased online at,

Whitney Houston Tribute Night – Essex County Cricket Club – The Essex County Ground, New Writtle Street, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 0PG – Friday 31st May – 19:30 – 23:00

For one night Essex County Cricket Club will welcome a Whitney Houston tribute act, so be prepared to sing along to some of her greatest hits in the heart of Chelmsford. Arrive early for a pre-performance one course meal or arrive in time for the 90 minute medley of classics. Tickets are £12 for just the show or £22 for the show and the one course meal. Great Dunmow Soapbox Race at Great Dunmow Maltings – Mill Lane, Great Dunmow, Essex, CM6 1BG – Sunday 26th May – 11am – 6pm

After last year’s success, the Great Dunmow Round Table is to host a second Soapbox Race this May. With up to 60 teams battling it out to be crowned champion of the day. It is a free day with donations taken on the gate to aid the Great Dunmow Round Table in their future events.  There is a number of craft stalls and other entertainment during the day. An Audience with Kate Humble at Mercury Theatre – Balkerne Gate, Colchester, Essex, CO1 1PT – Wednesday 8th May

Join Kate Humble for a fascinating talk on her latest book ‘Thinking on my Feet’. Kate will be discussing her life working with wildlife and where it has taken her. With Kate Humble’s popular BBC programme ‘Back to the Land’ attracting large audiences, she hopes to see a large number of likeminded people to engage with on her new book. For more information see,

Superhero Fun Run – Raphael Park, Main Road, Romford, Essex, RM2 5EB – Sunday 19th May – 11am – 4pm

Once again there will be the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund’s Superhero Fun Run and Inflatables Day at Raphael Park in Romford. With the superhero fun run taking place at 12pm but the inflatables day starts at 11am and finishes at 4pm. This fun run is for all the family with tickets from £10 in advance or £12 on the day.
