If you’re looking for some inspiration on how to keep both the adults and kids occupied during the summer holidays, here is a selection of what’s happening across the county over the next two weeks.

Events 27th July – 9th August

  • Astrodome Colchester Castle Museum Tuesday 28th July 2015 Shows at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm £3 per adult, £2 per child – after normal admission price to the Castle.

Explore the stars in the Astrodome! Learn about the solar system, stars and comets as well as why we have night and day, the seasons and eclipses. Booking required.

  • RHS Hyde Hall Flower Show, Chelmsford 30th July – 2nd August   10:00 to 17:00

Don’t miss this year’s four-day floral extravaganza set in the spectacular surroundings of RHS Garden Hyde Hall in. The sixth show will feature 60 specialist nurseries and garden trade stands, with the chance for visitors to see mini show gardens and buy a wide range of plants and flowers as well as all the tools and equipment the home and professional gardener might need.

  • World War II Day, Braintree Museum Manor Street, Braintree, 1st August

The museum will bring World War Two to life in a new way. Exploring what the war was like for those living on the Essex Home Front in a thought-provoking exhibition running from 4th July to 12th September 2015, but we will be telling the story of life at home through the voices of local people rather than a museum professional.

  • Treemendous Tuesday , Visitor Centre, Weald Country Park, Weald Road, Brentwood 4th August - 11:00am-12:30pm and 1:30pm- 3:00pm

Join the Rangers for some FREE messy play games and activities out in the park. Dress to get messy in the park. Ideal for accompanied children under 12. Free.

  • Free Summer Sports and Crafts Roadshow, Queenstown Gardens, Rainham 4th August 13:00pm – 16:00pm

Havering's Community Engagement Team bring their great summer roadshow to venues across the Borough. Families welcome, prizes awarded and free raffle. Bring your own picnic. Activities include egg and spoon races, cupcake decorating and badminton along with an inflatable play zone.
