If you’re looking for some inspiration on how to keep both the adults and kids occupied during the summer holidays, here is a selection of what’s happening across the county over the next two weeks.

 

Events 10th August – 23rd August

  • Pony Days, Remus Horse Sanctuary Ingatestone 12th and 19th August 10.30am to 3.30pm

Each day between 10.30am to 3.30pm, children and adults will be ‘loaned’ a pony, to make up its feed up, be taught how to groom and turn it out into the field, shown how to clean out the pony’s stable and make a nice new bed for him or her to come back into later. With lots more tips, information and fun throughout the day.

The Pony Days are suitable for boys and girls aged 9 years and over. Priced at just £45 per person.

  • Archery School at Colchester Castle 18th August 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm

Join our master for a lesson in archery. Learn about the Long bow and put your skills to the test.

£2 per person - after normal admission price to the Castle. Minimum age 8 years old.

  • The Madhatters Tea Party and Family Fun Day at Gardens of Hanbury, Waltham Abbey 16th August 11am to 4pm

Come and explore the wonders of the Victorian garden for a Madhatters Tea party celebration and let the wonderland mystery unfold. Join the Madhatters table and see the roaming characters. One not to be missed.

  • Summer Events at Langdon Nature Reserve 10th to 13th August

Various summer events held at The Haven Museum Langdon Nature Reserve, from making natural wind chimes to no cook cooking lessons. From £2 per child there is lots of enjoy.

  • Thorndon Family Fun Day at Thorndon Country Park 15th August

Enjoy an incomparable atmosphere created by the buzz of people, delicious food and the love for an alfresco setting with a local feel.

There will be fun, games, and children activities for all ages. Sit back, relax and experience a day in the sun.

FREE Event activities include: music, picnic area, games, boutique market stalls, photography opportunities, country trek, story-telling, drawing. Paid activities: Hot food available, face painting, glitter tattoos, jumpers, large games, pony rides, inflatables.
