What is on in Essex? June 2021
With national lockdown restrictions continuing to ease, we are all looking forward to enjoying days out with our friends and family again. Essex provides endless opportunities for great days out for everyone - so where better to explore? If you are unsure of what to do, or where to go we have listed below some great local events running throughout Essex this June.
Colchester's Food & Drink Festival:
We are calling all foodies, because we have found the perfect event for you! This event has been running successfully for 17 years, and offers a variety of stalls that cater to individual tastes and preferences. Colchester Food & Drink Festival 2021 will see lots of well-loved stalls returning, but they are also excited to offer some great new and exciting traders. Enjoy international treats and some locally produced international goodies, or sit back and relax in either the Pikestaff Inn bar or the brand new prosecco bar.
It's a weekend event that is open to the public on 26th and 27th June and will be an affordable day out for all with ticket prices starting from £5 and FREE parking offered in Kings Meadow. Dogs are welcome too!
Meet Peppa Pig and brother George at Old McDonalds Farm:
A day out that a lot of little ones will love! The extremely popular character Peppa Pig and her brother George will be doing meet and greets at intervals throughout the day. Old McDonalds Farm is a great day out, as not only can you visit the beautiful animals on the farm but there are also many rides and attractions to keep you entertained throughout the day, which is included should you purchase a ticket for this event. It's a great opportunity for children to socialize and have fun with lockdown restrictions now easing. This event is taking place on Sunday 13th June 2021.
Whether you're a thrill-seeker or just looking for your daily dose of fun, Adventure Island has you covered! This Essex seaside theme park is suitable for both children and adults, as it offers rides, such as their rollercoaster Rage and a much-loved Helter Skelter, alongside arcades and soft play centres. It is free entry, and their pricing is simple and affordable with different packages tailored to different age brackets - you can even save yourself an additional 20% by booking online! Somedays the park is open until 10.30pm, however it does vary because it is altered at the discretion of management.
There is plenty to do within the area, with a wide range of amenities surrounding Adventure Island in Southend. You could go for a paddle on the seafront, take a stroll down the longest pier in the world, enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants on offer or go shopping in the town centre that offers both independent and well-known retailers. It is a great day out for all!

This market is held every third Sunday of the month, and is located outside in front of Hylands House in Chelmsford. At the Farmers' & Craft Market, you will find local and freshly produced goods - including honey, bread and dairy products.
