Property market continues to surge
The post-lockdown resurgence in the property market continues unabated with one of the major property portals, Rightmove, announcing that properties selling within a week are at a 10 year high with the figures 28% up on the previous high recorded back in February 2016 before the Brexit vote.
That increase in demand is certainly being seen locally here in Essex.
Whilst it’s true to say that some of it is the result of pent up demand following the relaxing of restrictions, we were already seeing significant signs of fresh activity pre lockdown at the start of 2020 following the ‘Boris Bounce’ of the election, with buyer activity markedly up on same period in 2019.
Since lockdown though, demand has gone through the roof if you excuse the housing pun. Last month alone saw nearly 2,000 new buyers contact Beresfords and we agreed sales on over £125m worth of properties.
