Elizabeth Line drives property hotspots

Some areas of Essex have consistently attracted a premium because of their commuter credentials especially areas such as Romford, Gidea Park, Shenfield and Brentwood with their fast direct access to London Liverpool Street.

In fact, there’s no better access into the City from any of the other Home Counties.

However there’s no doubt that since works started in 2012, the Crossrail project has taken those towns to a new level when it comes to demand and the inevitable rise in house prices that follows.

Latest Land Registry figures show that average house prices in Romford and Gidea Park have risen 46% over the last 3 years and 36% in Brentwood and Shenfield over the same period.

In Crossrail’s latest report they reveal that the programme is now 87% complete. The last section of new track was laid at Whitechapel station in September enabling engineering trains to run the full length of both tunnels.

The Elizabeth Line will begin service through central London in December 2018 but the new rolling stock is already in use between the line’s eastern hub at Shenfield and Liverpool Street.
