Chop’s steak time!

There’s nothing like sitting down and enjoying a juicy steak accompanied by delicious cocktails and great company. Recently two of our colleagues sampled the delicious food and fabulous atmosphere that Chop Bloc has to offer.

Myself and my colleague, Celia Crookes, were fortunate enough to be invited along to Chop Bloc for a bite to eat and a well-deserved drink last Friday evening.....and what a wonderful end to the week it was!!!

We were greeted as soon as we entered, our reservation had been noted and we were welcomed by name.

We were asked where we would like to be seated rather than directed to a table that suited them.....we chose to spend our evening on the 2nd floor where the very well presented cocktail bar is located!!

Thanda, the mixologist greeted us with a very friendly polite welcome, poured us both a glass of cold iced water & placed a large bowl of spicy popcorn in between us, which may I add was divine !!!

Thanda gave us time to settle at the bar before he took our order so everything felt very relaxed and not pressured or rushed at all.

He then proceeded to chat away with us, finding out a little bit about what our favourite drinks and flavours where. Well it goes without saying both myself & Celia love sparkling wines. We advised him we preferred sweet fruits over citrus and the rest was down to him!!!

Out of this conversation came an amazing cocktail comprising of Prosecco, Raspberries, Gin, Vodka, bitter lemon & crushed iced.....christened "The Beresfords".

Sipping away with the 80’s music playing in the background and gentle banter with the team....the atmosphere was brilliant & the drink was too. Thanda had put everything we loved into one drink....perfection!!

He kindly reserved us a booth in the bar area as it started to get busy from around 7.45pm.

It was really interesting to hear what is involved in the art of cocktail making and how they know what to and what not to mix.


I opted for the Scallops with pea puree…an absolute light delight! Perfectly presented in little shells. Celia chose salt & pepper squid which was delicious.

I tried the steak which was without a doubt a must have off of the menu! I am a huge lover of macaroni cheese so opted this as a ‘sinful’ accompaniment, whereas Celia chose a chilli burger and having opted for it to be well done, it was perfection. Alongside the burger was a lovely salad and fries,all of which were delicious.

At this stage we were both pleasantly full, but being gluttonous we opted to share a dessert….bring on the Eton mess oh my goodness!! Absolutely AMAZING this is a must have....lots of fruit, cream & meringue, all perfectly balanced.

To conclude, a great night, fabulous atmosphere and very accommodating staff. My phone lost battery power whilst I was there, I asked at the bar if they could charge and this was done no problem.

I can't wait for my next visit and I am sure Celia will be joining me!!!
