Beresfords report a continued upturn in activity

By The Beresfords Marketing Team - 19 March 2009
Many people have asked why there has been a significant rise in buyer interest and sales. The levelling back of house prices over the last 18 months has started to make the move more attractive for a number of buyers, those trading up have seen the gap narrow considerably and for those stepping into the market for the first time there is far more choice and affordability.

In addition despite what the media says, as independent mortgage advisers with access to the whole of the market, we can assure you that the banks and building societies are lending! Whilst it’s true that to get some of the very low rates available you will need a good deposit or equity in your existing property. However, for those first time buyers struggling to find a deposit, we are working with major housing associations who have lending schemes geared to give first time purchasers and key workers with very modest savings the opportunity to buy a wide choice of homes.

These stats are very positive and highlight a much needed increase in consumer confidence. Ultimately seasoned buyers and first time buyers are starting to take advantage of the more affordable house prices and lower mortgage rates.

Our network of offices have also been reporting properties coming onto the market and selling very quickly.

With First Time Buyers recognised as a vital part of the housing market's proper functioning, the fact that their activity level remains strong is very positive news and will help a lot of other people who are in a chain looking to move. If more first time buyers are looking to buy other people will move in all price ranges as a result.

Because of recent heightened First Time Buyer activity, Beresfords will be holding a First Time Buyer event on Sunday 26 April, between 12 – 5pm, at the Best Western Ivy Hill Hotel in Margaretting. Financial Advisers will be on hand to discuss what types of mortgages are available and a large selection of properties, ideally suited for those looking to take that step onto the property ladder, will be on display.
